Welcome to The Stay at Home Soprano!
Many of you are here because you followed my blog The Stay at Home Soprano which was on blogger but has now found its new home here at WordPress. If this is your first time to the blog, welcome. Let me tell you a little about who I am.
My name is Sarah Adams, and I am a professionally trained coloratura soprano. I have my BA in Music specializing in opera from Western Oregon University, as well as a minor in theater, and some post grad work at Portland State University and the Bel Canto Institute. I used to teach voice lessons as well as perform; a whole lot more than I do now. Hopefully, if everything goes to plan, that will change in the next few years. I have three children. Taylor is 10, Emma is 6, and Ethan is 9 months. Taylor has autism, and you will likely read a lot here about the ups and downs that go along with that.
In addition to teaching voice lessons, I also taught cake decorating, a hobby of mine. It’s been fun, and I love to do new projects. Another hobby I have is crocheting. You will also see some posts of how-to projects.
I titled my blog, The Stay at Home Soprano. Besides the obvious reason for “soprano” in the title, I placed “Stay at Home” in the title because that is now my main role. I felt God’s leading me for years to slow down my pace and spend my passion on my family. I am a follower of Jesus and use the term Christian to generally label me. My faith in God has shaped every part of my life and has kept me from succumbing to the stress of everyday life with a child with autism as well as the other normal stressors we all face. Since I have made the change to stay at home, I have become more at rest with my choice everyday. By no means does this mean I love every second :-)! No stay at home parent loves every moment. You will see examples about why my children are making me go grey (I swear I’m losing hair ;-)), and you will see the struggle of how to merge a passion of music I had a career in with family life. But the decision to stay at home will never be seen as a bad choice.
I hope you enjoy my blog, with some guest posts from my husband as well. It will be a fun journey.
As always, positive comments are welcome. Negative hurtful comments will be trashed before I can even finish reading them. I have many readers who are emotionally vulnerable, and I will not post comments that will further harm.
